Resolving usb device installation and performance issues. some usb 2.0 devices (printers, external hard drives, usb keys etc.) may not install correctly or perform as fast as expected on your virtualbox windows 7 machine.. In windows you will be asked for these drivers as soon as you capture the device from the virtual box manager. note: for full usb 2.0 support we need to run the puel version of virtual box that to date is on version 4.1.8..
I am running a windows xp guest on a windows 7 host via virtualbox. i want to use a usb scanner on the windows xp guest. i will not be using the scanner on the windows 7 host itself.. I am running windows 7 64-bit on the host and windows 7 32-bit in the guest. i am running the latest version of virualbox 5.1.6. i am running the latest version of virualbox 5.1.6. i have installed the add on package so that i have usb 2 support.. Guest os is windows 7 ultimate sp1 with vb 4.3.10 guest additions installed. when i attach a usb thumb drive to the guest os by selecting devices > usb devices > (my usb drive name i.e. kingston data traveler 2.0 [200])..
